Make your own face scrub...

Hey how is your weekend going? I'm really enjoying chilling out and eating my cupcakes!

I tried this DIY face scrub today after reading about it on Karen's blog- http://www.makeupandbeautyblog.com/skin-care/4-easy-diy-skincare-recipes-with-lemon/#more-108771

Its so easy to do, you just mix up a bowl of brown sugar, honey and lemon juice. Its literally that easy, I didn't measure the amounts I just put them all in a little bowl until I liked the consistency.

It worked really well, I'm pretty skint at the moment so I'm excited to try and make my own skincare products. They are more natural and obviously have no preservatives and added ingredients 'cos you have made them!

I used this scrub on my face, and my feet. I know a bit weird to do it on those parts, especially as they are so different. My face is reasonably soft and my feet are harder but it worked really well on both parts. I would seriously consider using more recipes for skincare products.

A day in the life of a Student Nurse

Hey guys, something different today, I thought I would write something about being a student nurse. I'm in the end of my second year in the adult nursing diploma course now at my local university. I thought I would talk about what I do and how I feel about being a student nurse.

Lots of students are applying for university at the moment and I cannot recommend a better course or career than being a nurse. I love what I do, it does have its downfalls but as with any course nothing can be good all the time!

Nursing is something to go into if you want to help people, If you want to make a difference and try and help people at their most vulnerable time. I went into nursing because I wanted to be a midwife, and I was seen as too young to do the midwifery course, so I applied for the nursing course. When I went on the interview day I couldn't believe how much I wanted to be a nurse, all the myths had be cleared up and I couldn't imagine a better career to go into. So when I got on the course I was chuffed, I was excited for the next 3 years and how much I would learn.

The course is hard, I'm not going to sugar coat it, its not something to go into lightly, you need to be really sure its what you want. As nurses, we look after people from young to old when they need us most. Dealing with the general population is difficult at the best of times, so when your caring for the general population when they are ill/sick/diseases/dying it can be challenging at the best of times.

The reasons I love being a student nurse:

  • Its rewarding, helping save someone's life or preventing them from declining in their state of illness is the most rewarding thing out there!
  • The people you meet, patients/clients/service users are wonderful and full of life experience and amazing stories.
  • The different things you get to do. I've used machines and bags to breath for someone (actually keeping them alive myself) seen some amazing wounds, used pretty amazing drugs, seen some incredible operations and looked after people at the end stage of their life.
  • Learn the lingo, most people in health care say you can speak a different language when your a professional, its true! I think I speak English and nurse/doctor language! Ha
  • The different area's I can work in when I'm qualified, there are just so many different areas and branches of nursing, its wonderful the opportunities you get when you work in health care.

Some interesting facts about nurses/student nurses (these are general not necessarily the same for every nurse)

  • We can eat while talking about disgusting things like wounds, stoma's, bowel movements, vomit, blood and other quite gross things.
  • We always think we are ill, especially student nurses, we learn about something and then think we have it.
  • Think about us, caring for your loved ones and all the sick people while leaving our loved ones at home or often missing out on important moments in life.
This is just my own opinions of nurses/student nurses and is not the thoughts/views of the NHS.

I hope this opens your eyes to nurses! :D

New things, Superdrug haul.

Hey everyone, hope your all enjoying your weekend, I've just been bumming around and enjoying not being at work ! Woo

I went shopping the other day, (pretty standard for me) just pick up a few cheapy make-up bits and a sample of the Estee Lauder double wear. I literally hate the woman at my local Debehams, I'm not trying to be harsh or anything but she is so rude and wears so much make-up I can barely see her skin! So begrudgingly I went to get my colour checked and ask for a sample to try.

I picked up the Collection 2000 Cream Puff lip cream, I know I'm seriously late to the game but I just didn't fancy it before.

I love the cream puff, I love the idea that it's kind-of a stain but still feel soft on the lips. The only problem is they do make your lips a bit dry, but a bit of lip balm will sort that one out!

I also got a Revlon Lip Butter, I told myself I wasn't going to get one, since I think they are over priced and aren't that great, but my local Superdrug had a load of samples and all the colours in so I gave them a try. I bought the Raspberry pie colour, it seems nice and I don't have a shade like it!

Original Source Showergel's

Hey everyone, hope you've all had a good week...

Yess its the weekend, and I have it off work! :D

I have absolutely been LOOOVVINGG these shower gels, they smell amazing and have the cutest little slogans at the top, "82 British sunrises helped to make this lovely bottle of this"

These little shower gels aren't that expensive at around £2/£3 depending on the  supermarket.

They have a lovely creamy or gel like consistence and get pretty foamy, the smell lasts all day on your skin and fills the bathroom! Hmmmm

Vanilla and Raspberry

I was really impressed with these shower gels, I'm pretty picky when it comes to bath products, and usually I use The Body Shop products because I used to get them free from work, Ha.

But now I cannot stop using these Original Source shower gels because I love the smell and feel of them!

Pineapple

The great thing about these shower gels is there are SOO many different flavours! Yummyyy.

My skincare routine

Hi everyone, hope your having a good week, I started back on placement on Monday, I'm really enjoying it so far!

I've been using this skincare routine for a few months now so I feel I can properly review the products. I haven't included the wash process because that changes depending on what products are on offer (ha)

These are the products I used:

Cleanser- Lush 9-5
Eye Cream- Clinique all about the eyes
Serum- The Body Shop vitamin C serum
Moisturiser- Clarins HydraQuench cooling cream-gel

I am really impressed with the moisturiser, as its more of a gel than a cream, Its really helped my oily skin and calms my red bits down.

The Vitamin C serum is something you just have to feel, its silicon based so feels very velvety. It has 30% vitamin C and smells incredible. I don't use it every day but it does help to keep my make-up on all day.

The eye cream is amazing, this little pot is just a free sample I got but its lasted me months! I'm going to buy the full sized pot when I get paid!

The Lush cleanser is something I've been using for a few years, it works! It just works, that's all I can say! ha

Life Updates :)

Hey guys, hope your all having a good week :)

Thought I would do a little "non Make-up" related post, and don't worry my dog Snoop is fine, I just couldn't find a better picture to put in the post!!

I'm currently on half term in between placements, so i've just been bumming around not doing much at all! I've been reading The Hunger Games books and went to see the first film yesterday, I absolutely love the books and I've been totally hooked in the thrilling story!

I went shopping today and got some birthday presents for my friend and a few new bits for myself.

I'm going out this weekend for said birthday party and on Saturday with a friend which i'm pretty excited about since I haven't actually been out this year! :o

Urgh and i've also been going to the gym EVERY SINGLE DAY for the last 2 weeks "go me" i'm feeling great for doing it but it can be a chore!

I hope everyone had a good Easter and don't find this change of post too boring !!

Urban Decay (continued)

So in my previous post I mentioned my love for Urban Decay and how my collection has nearly doubled in size in the last year. Its a brand I really just can't fault, their products are amazing, such good quality, lovely colour pay off and never irritate or cause me any problems. I normally go to the Urban Decay store in House of Fraiser Norwich because its the closest and its pretty big. I now know the lovely lady who works there and I see her most times I pop in. She always remembers me and takes my details down to let me know of any new products or events!!

I got the Naked palette a few months after it came out and fell in love, I honestly cannot believe how much I use this palette. Its famous as being the "best nude palette" so when I got the Naked 2 I wasn't holding out for much, how can you top the BEST nude palette. But they did! Naked 2 is a wonderful versatile palette with more matte shades and some lovely petrol coloured nudes. They are shades I didn't think I needed but now can't live without *maybe a bit of an exaggeration*.

My friends bought me The Feminine Palette for my birthday and its brilliant, has a small selection of classic shades, great for travelling. I was given the Urban Decay Anniversary palette to try out and its another favourite palette for its mass selection of wonderful colours.

Some of the extras are things I've picked up along the way and bought separately. The all nighter setting spray and the brushes were a much needed addition to my collection.

No i'm not sponsored by Urban Decay or and i'm sure they don't read my blog but I really do love all their products and the only thing I can fault them with is that I don't have enough money to buy everything they make!

Outfit Post

Happy Good Friday everyone! Hope your all enjoying the day off and the weather is nice for you! Its lovely here in Suffolk, the sun is shining and people have got their lawnmowers out. Ha !

I went to the gym yesterday with my mum for our personal trainer session, urgh I literally cannot move today, my legs are so sore! He almost killed us! Oh well, no pain no gain they say.

Here's a quick pic of my outfit today, I like how natural and neutral it is!

The top is from Vera Moda, the vest top underneath is just a cheap one from New Look and the Skirt is Miss Selfridges.

These boots I bought a few weeks ago are from Mr Shoe, they are so comfy and only cost me around £20 Bargain!

(and I hope people have noticed that my photo's are much better quality at the moment, well apart from these ones! My new camera is amazing! Its the Nikon D40 and I love it!)

Your nails but a better colour...

Morning, happy Thursday! I'm looking forward to Easter, some family are coming down and I haven't seen them for ages!!

I thought I'd post a picture of my nails at the moment, I'm seriously loving this Essie polish "Topless and Barefoot" Its a beautiful nude pink with a hint of grey. It just looks so clean and elegant on the nails. Every time I look at it, I try to think of what colour it is, in some lights its pink, and in others its truely nude.

Its just beautiful! Take a look for yourself.

Excuse the state of my nails, im still a bit of a nail biter!

March Empties

All the blog's I read are doing "empties" posts so I thought I would join in! I seem to have used up a lot of things this month! Sometimes its good to use up products but the ones I love I have to re-purchase and that I hate! I love buying things but when your a student and don't have a lot of money its hard to part with nearly £30 for my powder!

Coconut Shower Cream- The Body Shop
Love ECT body lotion- The Body Shop
Channel loose powder
Face Soap- Soap and Glory
Tea Tree foaming face wash- Superdrug own brand

Tuesday 3 April 2012

Aussie Hair Care Ranges

Hi guys, its been a while! Hope everyone's having a good weekend. I thought it was about time I wrote about something that popped through my door a few days ago.

Now normally haircare isn't a huge issue for me as I don't really spend much time on my hair. When I was younger I would always walk around Superdrug or Boots and sniff the shampoo, weird I know!! Aussie was always a brand I loved the smell of, I got to the age of around 15 and when mum said I could choose the shampoo I automatically picked Aussie. That smell just brought me back to the younger days sniffing shampoo in the shop.

At the moment I use the Vo5 range, I love their hair care range and it seems to work for my hair. When Aussie contacted me about their new shampoo and the larger bottles I was excited!

The new range has Aloe Vera and Macadamia Nut extract, these ingredients are perfect for dry and damaged hair, since I dye my hair it gets dry really easily.

I received the larger bottles of Miracle Moist shampoo and I can't wait to try it out. The other Aussie products are 3 minute miracle and the hair insurance, which is a leave in conditioner spray.

The mega shampoo's are £5.99 at Superdrug, thats pretty good for 500mls :)
